New Israel Fund

The Pears Foundation supports the core costs of the New Israel Fund (NIF) office in the UK as well as projects in Israel. The NIF works to strengthen Israel’s democracy by promoting freedom, justice, and equality for all its citizens.

These issues include representing the rights of the elderly and people with disabilities; advocating and providing legal aid for Ethiopian Jews and immigrant workers of any religion, nationality or race; offering help services and promoting legislation for victims of sexual or domestic violence and abuse.

The Foundation sponsored the inaugural New Israel Fund Human and Civil Rights Awards held in London in July 2007.
