Symposium on the Opportunities and Challenges Facing Israel as a Vibrant Democracy

According to the State Commission headed by Theodore Or, the integration and development of Israel’s Arab citizens is one of the major challenges facing the country.

The Pears Foundation co-hosted a landmark symposium in March 2007 – a gathering of the European Jewish community to engage with the issues surrounding Arab citizens in Israel and what role it could and should play. The symposium brought leading Israeli Arab academics and activists together with 160 representatives of Jewish communal organisations and friends of Israel groups, for a day of learning and discussion.

The Pears Foundation is also a member of the Inter-Agency Taskforce which educates Jewish communities outside Israel about Israel’s Arab citizens.
