The Pears Foundation enabled the Aegis Trust to set up the “Protect Darfur Campaign” in 2005 and continues to support campaigns on this issue.

In April 2007 The Pears Foundation published a booklet Darfur: A Jewish Response, intended to stimulate action across the Jewish community on the ongoing crisis in Darfur. 10,000 copies of the booklet were distributed to synagogues, youth and student groups, communal organisations and events, libraries, politicians and journalists. The distribution of the booklet was accompanied by a series of events which included the participation of Darfuri refugees.
