TreeHouse

TreeHouse is the national charity for autism education. It combines advocacy and policy work with a school for young people with autism.

The Foundation has developed a close partnership with TreeHouse, responding to the organisation’s needs and providing both capital and project funding to build its capacity.

We provided funding for two years for the post of Policy and Public Affairs Officer. This enabled TreeHouse to campaign effectively on behalf of young people with autism and their families and to make a strong contribution to national policy. TreeHouse has now been able to secure other sources of funding to continue its policy work.

In 2005 Foundation supported TreeHouse’s capital appeal for a new permanent building, and in 2008 we committed a further £700,000, making a total capital investment of £1.15million.

The Pears National Centre for Autism Education opened in 2009 and has enabled TreeHouse to provide a state-of-the-art permanent home for its school, expand the scope and impact of its activities and reach more young people, families, educators and policy-makers.
