TreeHouse

TreeHouse is the national charity for Autism Education. TreeHouse combines direct service provision with advocacy and policy work.

The Pears Foundation provided capital funding to build a National Centre for Autism Education, which will open in 2008. The aims of the National Centre are to educate children with autism, parents and professionals who work with children with autism, and the general public and decision makers.

The Foundation also funds a post in the policy and campaigns department. The Policy and Public Affairs Officer is responsible for representing TreeHouse in parliament; working on joint campaigns; developing authoritative responses to government consultations; and undertaking policy research. This has strengthened TreeHouse's campaigning work for all children with autism and assists them and their families to get the services they need.
