Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

The Award creates opportunities for young people to gain skills and experiences that will enable them to develop their talents, work as part of a team and be recognised for their service and dedication. We believe young people can gain a greater sense of their identity and shared British values through involvement in the Award.

The Foundation has supported a variety of initiatives to give young people from different backgrounds the opportunity to meet and work together, and increase participation levels among black and ethnic minority groups.

We are currently funding a post in the policy department and a major piece of research into the positive impact of the Award on young people which is being carried out by the University of Northampton. These will raise the profile of The Award and enable the organisation to make its case at national level and make an effective contribution to public policy.
