Pears Foundation - 07 May 2018
Pears Foundation partner, SID (The Society for International Development – Israel branch) sponsored a cross-sector conference in Ethiopia to strengthen partnerships between Israel, World Jewry and Africa. Inspired by an historic diplomatic visit by Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, the conference attracted senior representatives from government, business, NGOs and philanthropy (including numerous Pears Foundation partners such a Tzedek, JDC, OLAM, and NALA). Roundtable discussions were held on a variety of subjects: energy, agriculture, health, and education. In addition, a number of MOUs were signed, marking a new era of enhanced cooperation between Israeli technological innovation and the Ethiopian people.
Sir Trevor Pears not only attended the “Impact for Good” conference, but also was a featured speaker, alongside Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, Chief Rabbi of the Commonwealth, who called for the Jewish community worldwide to take greater responsibility for global social concerns and you can read more about The Chief Rabbi's call to action here.
